About Me

This is me!

I am from South Brunswick, New Jersey, and am currently majoring in Biomolecular Sciences, minoring in Computer Science. I plan to pursue a career in the biomedical field, specifically one that uses software tools hand-in-hand with biological data in order to positively impact the health and medicine field.

Before my time at NYU, I took part in Rutgers Univerity’s WISE program where I was able to publish 2 genomic sequences of Landolita punctata to NCBI’s GenBank database. At NYU I have been able to progress my academic journey in the biomedical field by joining the 3D Printed Biomedical Devices VIP team.

In addition to these academic experiences, I value building on my leadership skills and working towards creating a more inclusive and welcoming community here at Tandon. Last year I served as the President of the Brooklyn Residence Hall Council (formerly known as COIN). Currently, I am the President for the Tandon Undergraduate Student Council. I also work as a Senior Writing Consultant at the Tandon branch of the NYU Writing Center where I am able to pair up with students in introductory expository writing programs and work with them to better their writing and address any concerns they may have with their pieces.

If I’m not studying or working I am most likely either dancing, cooking, or journaling. I love to make friends and see friendly faces around campus. If you would like to know more about me or any of the projects I am currently working on, feel free to reach out and email me @manjrekar.shreya@nyu.edu.

How the GLASS Program has shaped the engineer I am today...

The GLASS program has provided me with so many opportunities I know I would not have necessarily had otherwise. As a GLASS scholar, I have gotten the chance to attend professional development events, and professional conferences, and participate in academic competitions. The program has given me the chance to acquire skills that are important in the professional and academic industries.

The major benefits of being a GLASS scholar are the monetary and advising support that you get as a member of the program. I have been able to use the money that I receive through GLASS to fund trips for conferences and study abroad semesters, experiences that I do not think I would have had if I had not been in GLASS. The advising team for GLASS is also a great resource. It has helped me greatly whether it's been by supplying me with resources to excel academically, helping me extend my professional network, or even just providing support throughout the difficulties of college life in the city.

Though there are many academic and professional benefits to being a GLASS scholar, my favorite part of being a part of the program is getting to meet all my peers and mentors. The GLASS program hosts many events throughout the semesters that allow the cohorts to get closer and learn from each other. My favorite memories of being a GLASS member come from the times that I have spent with my fellow GLASS scholars.
